Cathedral Newsletter for February 7th 2021
This Sunday we welcome you to celebrate the Fifth Sunday after Epiphany at 10:30 am with The Canon Doug Richards as our preacher. During this RED phase of pandemic restrictions, we particularly welcome The Reverend Scott, who will be assisting with our live streamed Sunday worship, and the parish of St. Luke's Ottawa, who will be worshipping with us online. With the pandemic moving to an even more serious stage, further restrictions on the number of people allowed in the Cathedral, and not wanting to ask any volunteers to leave their home, only paid staff will be involved in our Sunday livestreaming and one of the clergy will be worshipping from home each week. Please join our livestream from our YouTube channel (click the link below). We hope you will share this service with others in appropriate ways, abiding physical distancing. The girls are tuning up and tuning in!

Living Well in the Last Journeys of Life -offered by Canon Hilary Murray and Dr. Charles Barrett Rev. Canon Hilary Murray is a member of the clergy team at Christ Church Cathedral in Ottawa. Dr. Charles Barrett is an active United Church layperson, committed to social justice and is Chair of the Social Justice Network of the Ontario Regions. He is Treasurer and a Member of the Board of Directors of Compassionate Ottawa. Our fear of aging, and its impact on the spiritual growth of those in the autumn of their lives will be explored. There will be several speakers involved in the course, sharing the knowledge, experience and reflecting on the role of faith in the aging process. This program runs Monday evenings from February 8 through March 15 from 7:30 - 9:30pm and will be hosted over Zoom. Three different translations (NRSV, Good News and The Message) of the Gospel for the coming Sunday are read, and we are guided by the questions "What word or phrase stood out for you?" "What spoke to you in the passage?" "What meaning had you not perceived before?" and "What is the Gospel asking you to do today?". All are welcome. Click here for the Zoom link.
