New Zealand Pilgrimage

New Zealand Pilgrimage

Next steps

Thanks to all who met with Dean Beth and have expressed interest in the idea of a Cathedral pilgrimage to New Zealand in February 2027. The next steps will be for a smaller group to meet and research pricing, itinerary, etc. An email list is being kept of those who are interested, so please let Dean Beth (beth.bretzlaff@ottawacathedral.ca) know if you want to be added. She will be in touch soon!

Certificate in Missional Leadership

Certificate in Missional Leadership

Six Cathedral Council members participate

As part of our Learning Commons and our commitment to Contextual Mission, our diocese is sponsoring parishes to obtain a Certificate in Missional Leadership, an online course from the Centre for Missional Leadership in Vancouver, BC. This one-year program encourages fresh ways of gathering as a church and engaging with neighbours. Five parishes from our diocese are taking part, and Katherine, Nicholas, Shawn, Daniel, Stephen and Dean Beth make up our Cathedral team. The first session was engaging and very informative and a first meeting with our team's coach, Mark Glanville (who was the guest speaker at our diocesan clergy conference this year), will take place soon. This is a great learning opportunity!

Hearts of Compassion Fund

Hearts of Compassion Fund

Celebrating the ministry of Bishop Shane

To honour and celebrate Bishop Shane’s ministry among us, our diocese has launched the Hearts of Compassion Fund (HCF) to reflect his commitment to enabling our church to serve the most vulnerable members of society. Donations to HCF will be distributed annually amongst the Community Ministries of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa as they continue to provide safety and essential services such as food programs, housing, counselling, refugee sponsorship, and community outreach for people living in vulnerable or precarious circumstances. These ministries are Belong Ottawa, Centre 105 in Cornwall, Cornerstone Housing for Women, the Ottawa Pastoral Counselling Centre, and the Refugee Ministry Office. More information on the Community Ministries is available here.

Donations can be made through the Canada Helps HCF page: www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/133804, or by using the attached "Donation Form", if you wish to send in a cheque or make a payment by credit card. Please give generously, in the spirit of thanksgiving!
