Heartfelt ThanksFrom Bishop Kathryn Bishop Kathryn is deeply grateful for the welcome, support and encouragement that she has received this past month whilst being among us, for all the planning and attention to detail that went into her consecration, and for the generous gift of her bishop's cassock. What a wonderful start to her new ministry! She will be celebrating her first Eucharist as bishop this Sunday, and then have her first "annual visit" to the parish of the Cathedral on Pentecost, May 24th, confirming and receiving many people! What a joy to celebrate this new chapter in the life of our Cathedral and Diocese. |

The Dean is AwayMay 11th to September 7th Dear friends, Every seven years, our diocesan clergy are entitled to a sabbatical of three months, with the option of adding vacation time afterwards. In 2017, I particiapated in a pilgrimage at Coventry Cathedral, then spent time in London, the Scottish Highlands, the Isle of Skye, and Iona. This time I am heading off on a long walk, from St-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Following that I will meet up with family in Gdansk, Poland to explore our roots, and then return home to enjoy summer - kayaking, camping, visiting with friends, relaxing, and integrating all that I experience and learn on my trip. Thank you to all our clergy, to Bishop Peter Coffin who will be assisting a couple of days a week, to the staff, and to all of you, who make this time of refreshment and renewal possible. In September, I will begin my seventh year as Dean and it has been quite a ride! As you are well aware from my smile, I truly love my role and our Cathedral, and I will miss you. I look forward to returning and sharing the stories of your and my adventures and continuing on our journey together. Be well, take care of one another, and thank you! |

It would be wonderful to have some of our African and Caribbean voices, along with others, heard as the gospel is read at the 10.30 am service on Pentecost Sunday, June 8th. Please be in touch with Canon Doug (doug.richards@ottawacathedral.ca or 613- 236-9149 ext 191) by Monday, May 18th to volunteer. You will be reading as part of a group, all at once, so no need to be nervous! Thank you. |

Parking ChangesPlease be aware! It has been brought to our attention by the Vista on Sparks that people are parking directly in front of the their building on Sparks Street, which is their lay-by and loading zone. Please do not park there or you may well be ticketed and towed. Please also be alert to "Special Event" signs in the neighbourhood that restrict parking. Please also make sure to only park on level P1 in the underground garage. If all our allotted spots are taken (as indicated by the signage), you must leave the parking garage and find parking somewhere else -- and not on the lane way to the garage. Electric parking spots are also not available for Cathedral parking. If you need a refresher on parking, please see the instructions in the Other Information section of this newsletter. It is also time for us to change the parking code. The new code will be in the newsletter and available by calling or visiting the Cathedral's reception. We will let you know as of what date it will change. Thank you! |

An Invitation to Share in HopeAt Christ Church Cathedral It is easy to be moved by the sacred beauty and warm welcome of Christ Church Cathedral — a place some encounter briefly, and others come to call their spiritual home. It is a place that nourishes the soul through worship and music, care and community, and it exists because of generosity: the generosity of those who have gone before us, and the generosity of those who give today. To share hope faithfully and sustainably, our Cathedral must be well resourced. As an expression of joy and gratitude, you are invited to consider how you might respond. Click below to explore an invitation to give, to see what your giving makes possible, and to learn how it is easy to give. Thank you for responding to this place that sustains you by offering your own gifts in return.
