Sparks Street Doors
Following the completion of the Sparks Street Steps Project last year, we are delighted to share that the final phase of the restoration has now been completed. Last week, just in time for Doors Open Ottawa, the beautiful heritage wooden doors were restored. The project included repairing significant cracks and other signs of wear, as well as repainting the doors inside and out. This essential work makes the doors weather-tight. Anyone who has stood near the doors in inclement weather will appreciate that snow, wind and rain will no longer whistle through! If you would like to support this project and help preserve our historic building, please consider making a donation.

The Dean Writesfrom Santiago de Compostela, Spain Over the past month I have travelled by plane, bus, train, taxi, and many, many kilometres by foot, on pilgrimage. On June 9th at noon, I arrived in Santiago de Compostela having completed the Camino Frances. The journey is always more important than the destination and what a journey it has been - so much more than I ever imagined! I have many stories and learnings to share with you upon my return in September. But for now, the most important thing is to tell you how very much you have been with me. Your prayers, encouragement and love upheld and blessed me every step along the way, from the best to the worst moments and back again. And as I waited for the Pilgrim Mass to begin, gratitude for you, and the life and ministry of our Cathedral, completely overwhelmed me. We have been on quite a journey together since September 2020 and this is the perfect time to step away for a bit, reflect, refocus and refresh. Thank you for being you and for supporting this time of sabbatical. May you have a lovely summer!

...for a successful Doors Open Ottawa
A huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers and Cathedral staff who contributed to the success of Doors Open Ottawa at the Cathedral. We welcomed 254 guests over the course of the weekend, with many of them expressing positive and appreciative comments. Also thanks to the various Cathedral ministries and guilds who provided refreshments and baked goods, music rehearsals, live floral arrangement demonstrations and new exhibits in the Great Hall. Seeing the Cathedral as a hub of activity highlighted the message that we are not a museum, but a living and breathing community.

An Invitation to Share in HopeAt Christ Church Cathedral It is easy to be moved by the sacred beauty and warm welcome of Christ Church Cathedral — a place some encounter briefly, and others come to call their spiritual home. It is a place that nourishes the soul through worship and music, care and community, and it exists because of generosity: the generosity of those who have gone before us, and the generosity of those who give today. To share hope faithfully and sustainably, our Cathedral must be well resourced. As an expression of joy and gratitude, you are invited to consider how you might respond. Click below to explore an invitation to give, to see what your giving makes possible, and to learn how it is easy to give. Thank you for responding to this place that sustains you by offering your own gifts in return.
