We are Stronger TogetherOctober 19th-21st, 2023 Our annual synod is a meeting of our bishop, clergy and parish lay representatives from around our diocese. On Thursday, October 19th at 7 pm, Bishop Shane will give his charge at the opening eucharist at our Cathedral, and some leaders in our diocese will be installed in new ministries (including Henry Schultz, Cathedral member and Diocesan Chancellor, as a Lay Canon). All are welcome to attend in person or via the livestream. Over the past few years, we have worked hard as a diocesan church to create the Shape of Parish Ministry Proposals and to develop them. This year's synod will mark the implementation phase, in motions around Contextual Mission and New Worshipping Communities, Equipping Parishes to Thrive, and a new way of financing ministry through a 3-year budget. Please visit our lovely new diocesan website for more information (https://ottawa.anglican.ca/resources/synod/). |

Spiritual Care Awareness WeekOctober 22nd to 28th This week is a time to honour and offer prayer for those who exercise ministries of spiritual care. Sometimes called chaplains or pastoral care ministers, these lay people and clergy work to bring the light of Christ, the love of God, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit to many. We are blessed to have a pastoral care team at our Cathedral and we give thanks for them! For more infomation visit: https://www.anglican.ca/wp-content/uploads/SCAW2023-promo.pdf

Are You Able to Help with Coffee After Church? It is a wonderful way to serve Coffee hour is a great time of connecting and an easy way to meet people. Families and groups are welcome to sign up as a unit, and individuals will be put into groups so that no one is on their own. No experience is necessary and you will be contacted well in advance and given a list of dates from which to choose. If we have a roster of many people, it will be light work to provide this valuable ministry. Please contact Jane Morris (janedougmorris@gmail.com) or sign up on Sunday by adding your name to the list. Thank you! |
