Invitation to share the Doctrine of Discovery
The Diocesan All My Relations (AMR) working group invites you to a 3-part showing, via Zoom, of the film 'Doctrine of Discovery, Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts' with discussion following. This is a challenging truthful documentary that explains the history of the Doctrine of Discovery and its continuing impact on both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. We’ll show a section of the film beginning at 7 pm followed by a facilitated discussion until about 8:30 pm. Different evenings have been chosen to make it as accessible as possible. We hope you can come to see all sections of the film, or even 1 or 2 of the events. To register for each showing click on the links below: The film can be viewed beforehand, free of charge, at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQwkB1hn5E8 |

On Returning to the Cathedral for Worship
Please know that we are actively preparing for the day when we will return to the building. Although the Province of Ontario has given permission to gather in churches, our own church leadership at the diocesan and provincial levels have confirmed that we will not begin returning until at least September. We have epidemiologists preparing a staged approach for our return and giving advice to the Bishop and clergy about what we all will have to do to be ready and to keep people as safe as possible. We all miss gathering in person so very much, but the health risks remain very great; we will keep you well informed of our plans going forward. |
Seeking your views! Please complete our online survey:
As summer approaches, even as we plan for a safe return to our regular pattern of worship as the situation permits, we value your feedback and ideas with respect to online opportunities for fellowship and engagement in the coming weeks, as well as on our efforts to date.
Please click on the link below to answer a few survey questions. Responses are anonymous unless you choose to identify yourself. Your input will help us tailor our activities to the interests of our community, and we thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey!

Your support is as important as ever
As we continue to support each other during this pandemic, your financial support is as important as ever. There are many ways to continue your offerings. There is a link to Canada Helps at the end of your Sunday service that makes it as easy as leaving your envelope on the plate. Cheques can be sent by regular Canada Post or call the cathedral office and we would be pleased to help you with how to use credit cards or e-transfer. If you have not already signed up for pre-authorized giving, we can help you with that as well. The work of the Cathedral and the needs of our ministries continue and we look forward to hearing from you. |
A Parting Gift for Dean Parker
You may have been wondering about a gift for Dean Parker to honour his twenty year ministry at the Cathedral. He has asked that anyone wishing to make such a gift direct it to the Cathedral Benevolent fund which is used to help those in various kinds of need. You may send a cheque, payable to Christ Church Cathedral, and marked: Dean's Gift, Benevolent Fund. Another special gift, one which contributes to the new Bishop's vestments, is a Celtic design panel requested for his red fine wool chasuble. The panel has been ordered and is currently being made by Crofts in the UK. Many thanks to the Altar Guild for organizing and supporting this gift. |
We are finding new ways to gather!
