New Look for Reception

New Look for Reception

Our reception area has undergone a transformation! Not only is the space more friendly and usable, it is staffed with cheerful volunteers. Thanks to all who have helped make this happen. Come by and check us out!

Lay-by on Queen Street

Lay-by on Queen Street

Queen Street is beginning to take on its new shape. A beautiful sidewalk from Bronson is approaching the Cathedral, and this week work began in earnest on the lay-by in front of Lauder Hall. This will be a wonderful drop-off spot for our Cathedral! Thanks to all of those who have held this vision for a long time - it is very satisfying to see it come to life.

A Time of Prayer

A Time of Prayer

Listening for Divine Sparks in our Midst

An Action Plan for Contextual Mission and New Worshipping Communities was agreed at Synod in October 2023 to help us be a Spirit-led Church and create new worshipping communities in parishes across our diocese. Monthly resources have been developed to pray, listen, consider and be inspired. These resources invite us to reflect and pray about how being fed by the Spirit can and should guide our actions in the world. You will find prayers of the people (PRAY), a Bible study guide for a selected Scripture passage (LISTEN), information on religiosity in Canada (CONSIDER) and a short video interview with Kitty Galt, whose actions at All Saints’ Sandy Hill were the origins of Cornerstone Housing for Women (INSPIRE).

Diocesan Time of Prayer
O God of Love, your compassion fails none you created. Thank you for Jesus Christ and his example of a life that demonstrates how to live our daily discipleship. May we be instruments of your love, bringing you the pains of the sick, the injured, the weary, the heavy laden, those in sorrow or darkness, the hungry and weak. Grant us loving hearts and ready hands to help serve those in need among us. May our willingness to serve show our love and gratitude to you, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Amen.

A Prayer for Peace
O God of all justice and peace, we cry out to you in the midst of the pain and trauma of violence and fear which prevails in the Holy Land. Be with those who need you in these days of suffering; we pray for people of all faiths - Jews, Muslims, Christians, and for all people of the land. While we pray to you, O Lord, for an end to the violence and the establishment of peace, we also call for you to bring justice and equity to the peoples. Guide us into your kingdom where all people are treated with dignity and honour as your children for, to all of us, you are our Heavenly Father. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Our Clergy and the Cathedral Prayer Team will pray for all requests sent to info@ottawacathedral.ca during the week.
