Clergy Conference

Clergy Conference

In the Laurentians

Canon Doug and Dean Beth will be at this annual conference from Monday, September 15th to Wednesday, September 17th. There may be tears as it will be the last one with our dearly loved bishop! Please call our office numbers if there is a pastoral emergency.

Garage Elevator Shutdown

Garage Elevator Shutdown

At the Vista on Sparks

From Tuesday, September 16th to Friday, September 19th the elevator that serves the underground parking in the Vista garage will be shutdown as the elevator company will be doing some routine maintenance and aesthetic work to the inside of the elevator cab.

You may continue to park in the garage during this time, but you will have to exit the garage via either of the two stairwells (which have exit doors to the outside, at ground level). Unfortunately these stairwell exit doors lock automatically after exiting, so re-entry to the garage to retrieve a vehicle will have to be done at the vehicle entrance ramp, through the big garage door. Similar to driving in, you can enter the code at the keypad to open the garage door, and then just walk down the ramp into the garage. Thank you for your understanding!

Belong Ottawa and Ride for Refuge

Belong Ottawa and Ride for Refuge

Fall fundraiser

At its three locations in downtown Ottawa—Centre 454, St. Luke’s Table and The Well—Belong Ottawa serves more than 600 meals a day and provides many more supportive services to a growing number of vulnerable people in the city. With both need and costs on the rise, the Anglican Community Ministry is hoping to raise $20,000 with its first-time participation in the Ride for Refuge fundraiser on October 4th to help meet urgent needs.

St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, Elmvale Acres (934 Hamlet Rd.) has volunteered to be  the start and finish point. Participants can choose the length of course that suits them — 2.5 or 5 km or bike 10 or 20 km. It is a great way to provide vital support for vulnerable people in Ottawa, but it can also be a fun opportunity for team building.

“If you haven’t joined yet, there’s still time—come be part of something that truly makes a difference,” says Young. Register at: https://en.rideforrefuge.org/location/ottawaelmvaleacres

Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey

Here come our choirs!

The Cathedral Boys and Girls Choirs, Lay Clerks and Choral Scholars have been invited to sing at Westminster Abbey in London, England the week of July 19th to 25th, 2027! During that time they will be the "Choir in Residence" at the Abbey and sing the daily services offered in that historic building. This is a huge honour and an amazing opportunity for our singers, especially the boys and girls. It is also a tribute to the good and faithful work of this place and its people over more than a century in nurturing and sustaining its music ministry.

This will be the first time that the Boys, Girls, Lay Clerks and Choral Scholars will embark on tour together and is a clear demonstration of the wonderful collaborative spirit that has developed in our music program over the last decade. As is our practice here, each choir will have opportunities there to sing on their own as well as jointly with each other. There will also be plenty of time for sight-seeing and other activities!
