Ash WednesdayFebruary 18th | 12.05 and 7 pm Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence. From the Middle Ages, it became the custom to begin Lent by being marked in ash with the sign of the cross. The reminder that we are dust turns our attention to the creative power of God, and God’s ability to heal the brokenness in our lives when we offer it to God. This turning to God is the work of Lent, and a way to prepare for the celebration of Easter. Come to one of the services at our Cathedral on this day - there will be imposition of ashes at both the Sung Eucharist at 12.05 pm and the Choral Eucharist at 7 pm. The 7 pm service will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel. Please be aware that technological issues sometimes occur. Our Young Palestinian Friend
Many of you will remember Tareq Qirreh, a graduate of St. George's College, Jerusalem, who began undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto in 2024 and spent his Christmas holidays with us at the Cathedral, staying at Archbishop Shane's home. On his recent trip to the Land of the Holy One, Archbishop Shane met with Tareq's Palestinian Christian family living in Jerusalem. Angela Williams, from our Cathedral, keeps in touch with Tareq and he has sent us a lovely update on how things are going. Congratulations to Tareq on his success!

An Invitation to Share in HopeAt Christ Church Cathedral It is easy to be moved by the sacred beauty and warm welcome of Christ Church Cathedral — a place some encounter briefly, and others come to call their spiritual home. It is a place that nourishes the soul through worship and music, care and community, and it exists because of generosity: the generosity of those who have gone before us, and the generosity of those who give today. To share hope faithfully and sustainably, our Cathedral must be well resourced. As an expression of joy and gratitude, you are invited to consider how you might respond. Click below to explore an invitation to give, to see what your giving makes possible, and to learn how it is easy to give. You may also wish to hear Dean Beth’s sermon from December 14th, which reflects on Giving with Joy. The livestream is available here. Thank you for responding to this place that sustains you by offering your own gifts in return.
