In preparation for the Festive Market on November 28^th, there will be a series of pie-making bees in the Cathedral kitchen. Each session will be from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: September 28th, 30th and October 2nd will be strawberry rhubarb; and October 5th, 7th and 9th will be blueberry. There are so very many events happening in Ottawa and environs to recognize this important day. Make sure to notice our flag, gifted by the National Church to all Cathedrals, which is hanging in the Chapel of Reconciliation.

Come and celebrate the 130th Anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, the 50th Anniversary of the Ordination of Women, and the 25th Anniversary of the Christ Church Cathedral Girls Choir! It will be a day of worship, celebration and inspiration including:

11 am - A festive Choral Eucharist at which Bishop Kathryn Otley will preach, Dean Beth Bretzlaff will preside, and the Cathedral Girls Choir with Alumnae will sing. All clergy are invited to vest (red).

Following the Service - All are warmly invited to a reception.

2 pm - A book launch of Anne Boleyn: Reputation, Revolution, Religion, and the Queen Who Changed History by The Reverend Canon Martha Tatarnic (May 2026). Canon Tatarnic explores the life of Anne Boleyn and what her story tells us about women, religion, power, and the enduring impact of how history remembers women. Author remarks, a conversation, and an opportunity to purchase signed copies.

Join us for an enchanting evening celebrating the music of John Rutter including well known motets, his Requiem (composed in memory of his father), and the appropriately named "Celebration" for organ solo. Christ Church Cathedral's girl and boy choristers, and adult lay clerks will perform directed by Andrew McAnerney and accompanied by James Calkin.

Concert proceeds will support the Choirs' travel to London UK to be the resident choir at Westminster Abbey for a week in July 2027.

Your ticket includes the concert along with snacks and delicious desserts; beverages will be available for purchase. The evening will also feature a silent auction and the chance to get a head-start on your Christmas shopping with season wreaths (available for order) and unique, chorister-designed Christmas cards.

For last week's fantastic Welcome Back BBQ! Every single hot dog was consumed, which is always a good sign (mind you, the Boys Choir certainly assisted)! Thank you also to the Cathedral Women who paid for the new fridge, showcased in the pic with Nicholas and Wanita, and to Paul for his patience in making sure that it finally arrived.

Wow! Our Cathedral Lay Clerks started off the fall with a Sunday service and the consecration of the Bishop Ordinary and they sounded sublime. Last Sunday they also supported the new iteration of our Boys Choir who are starting very strongly. And this Sunday the bursting-at-the-seams Girls Choir with their many new members is on deck. It is wonderful to hear music all around our Cathedral (and even on the bluff!) as the season begins. 

From the Vicar’s Desk is a place where, through short articles, questions can be explored that do not always fit easily into a Sunday sermon. Topics from Anglican history and traditions to why we worship the way we do to how people in our past who have influenced who we are today will be featured. May these articles encourage us to be curious about our faith and discover more about the tradition we share. Parking | Street parking is free around the Cathedral on Sundays. Cathedral parking at the Vista on Sparks is off Queen Street, immediately east of the Cathedral, on the P1 Level. You MUST have the code to enter the parking garage and to re-enter and access the elevator (glass door across from the Cathedral's new east steps). The code is 3578.  It will be posted at our reception desk and listed here each week. If you enter the garage and there are no spots available, you will need to exit and find parking nearby.
