Growing our Clergy TeamBeginning January 18th It is a delight to welcome Joan, as she joins Michelle and Katherine on our roster of Honorary Assistants. What is an Honorary Assistant? They are clergy, retired or working elsewhere, who provide support, preaching and pastoral care on a volunteer basis to our Cathedral, under the direction of the Dean. Along with offering valuable experience and help, they are full members of our Cathedral community. Please welcome Joan! Joan was born and raised in Montreal, and moved to Ottawa with her family in 1980. It took her a little while to acclimatize, but Joan has grown to love this city. She began to study theology at Saint. Paul University and after two years, she discerned a call to ordained ministry. Our Bishop agreed, and Joan was ordained in 1988. She feels fortunate in her life and has enjoyed a very fulfilling career. Joan says she is inspired by music of the Church. She enjoys the meditative nature of knitting. She loves walking and feeling the breeze ruffling her hair. She delights in enjoying time relaxing in the garden while she watches the squirrels and birds at play. In 2013, Joan retired from full time work and discovered that part time placements were just right for her. Now it’s time for something different and Joan is looking forward to having a new parish home at our Cathedral. |

Let it SnowAs it is no match for our Building Superintendent! Our new steps are wonderful and luckily for us, Paul loves to get fresh air and exercise by wielding a shovel! He keeps the forecourt as clean as a whistle too. Thank you, Paul! |

About our StaffNicholas, Paul and Wanita Our Cathedral is blessed with an amazing new office staff and all of them are also members of our Cathedral who worship and volunteer like everyone else. Please be sensitive to this, and respectfully allow them to worship on Sunday. All "work" comments, requests or feedback should be directed to them via their Cathedral email and phone number (not their personal email address or mobile phone number) and they will respond during office hours. If you aren't certain which "hat" they are wearing at any given moment, simply ask. This way they can fully enjoy their spiritual life and also maintain professional boundaries. Thank you! |

An Invitation to Share in HopeAt Christ Church Cathedral It is easy to be moved by the sacred beauty and warm welcome of Christ Church Cathedral — a place some encounter briefly, and others come to call their spiritual home. It is a place that nourishes the soul through worship and music, care and community, and it exists because of generosity: the generosity of those who have gone before us, and the generosity of those who give today. To share hope faithfully and sustainably, our Cathedral must be well resourced. As an expression of joy and gratitude, you are invited to consider how you might respond. Click below to explore an invitation to give, to see what your giving makes possible, and to learn how it is easy to give. You may also wish to hear Dean Beth’s sermon from December 14th, which reflects on Giving with Joy. The livestream is available here. Thank you for responding to this place that sustains you by offering your own gifts in return.
