Diocesan Zoom Book StudyTuesdays | January 27th to February 10th | 7 to 8.15 pm Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news." Mark 1.14-15 Many congregations and their leaders are uncertain and discouraged about the future of the church. John Bowen's conviction is that the solution is to be found not in new programs or strategies but in a recovery of theological vision -- that of Jesus and his gospel, which transforms every aspect of life. This vision restores hope in the only way realistically possible. Very often words like mission, discipleship, church, evangelism, renewal, and church planting are used like billiard balls -- all rolling around a single table, unconnected and bouncing randomly off one another. This book pulls these ideas together into a coherent and organic whole. The gospel is the interpretive key for understanding each of these topics and what draws them together. Need a copy of the book? The publisher (Augsburg Fortress) is currently out of stock Purchase an eBook through Kobo or Kindle. Diocesan clergy facilitators: The Reverend Dr. Mary-Cate Garden (St. Mark); The Reverend Colin McFarland (St. Margaret); The Reverend Rosemary (St. Aidan); The Venerable Monique Stone (Christ Church Bells Corners). An Invitation to Share in HopeAt Christ Church Cathedral It is easy to be moved by the sacred beauty and warm welcome of Christ Church Cathedral — a place some encounter briefly, and others come to call their spiritual home. It is a place that nourishes the soul through worship and music, care and community, and it exists because of generosity: the generosity of those who have gone before us, and the generosity of those who give today. To share hope faithfully and sustainably, our Cathedral must be well resourced. As an expression of joy and gratitude, you are invited to consider how you might respond. Click below to explore an invitation to give, to see what your giving makes possible, and to learn how it is easy to give. You may also wish to hear Dean Beth’s sermon from December 14th, which reflects on Giving with Joy. The livestream is available here. Thank you for responding to this place that sustains you by offering your own gifts in return.
