Welcome back!Reopening our Cathedral We are so pleased to open for in-person worship (with restrictions)! For those not ready to return, please be assured that we will continue to offer our weekly live-stream of the 10:30 am service so that you can participate from home. We will also offer one weekday eucharist Wednesdays at noon, using a liturgy from Iona. For those returning to in-person worship, the guidelines are very similar to the experience last fall, with pre-screening, pre-registration, physical distancing and wearing of masks at all times required. Access is available by Sparks Street only (Queen Street will remain closed) and the rest of the building will remain closed. Washrooms are available on both the lower level and by the Great Hall kitchen. As you return, you may yearn to sit in your "familiar" pew. However, please be gracious and adaptable and sit where indicated by the Sidesperson, as it only takes one person to throw off the seating for the entire congregation while we are limited by capacity and distancing requirements. Also, at this stage of reopening congregational singing is not permitted, so hymnals have been removed from the pews and words to hymns are not included in the Order of Service. Please register by clicking on the link below. If you know someone who is not able to register online, please ask them to call the office (613-236-9149) or send an email (info@ottawacathedral.ca). Giving ThanksFor our partners at St. Luke's Our Cathedral has been enriched by partnering with St. Luke's and the Reverend Victoria Scott over these past months as St. Luke's Table was under renovation and we were all under pandemic restrictions. Collaborating for live-streamed worship, sharing office space, and finally being able to worship together in person has been so good for our hearts! This Sunday will be Reverend Victoria's last with us, as she is on vacation for August and St. Luke's opens once again in September. Our clergy and staff will particularly miss her lovely presence and compassionate heart, as we have come to know and appreciate one other whilst sharing in ministry. Thank you, Reverend Victoria and people of St. Luke's, for making the dark days of the pandemic brighter by sharing the journey. May you be blessed with restoration and renewal as you prepare to return to the corner of Somerset and Bell, and may this only be the beginning of our partnership in ministry! |

Final service of Lectio divina this WednesdayFrom St. Luke's This coming week, St. Luke's offers the last offering of Lectio divina on Zoom. Three different translations (NRSV, Good News and The Message) of the Gospel for the coming Sunday are read, and we are guided by the questions "What word or phrase stood out for you?" "What spoke to you in the passage?" "What meaning had you not perceived before?" and "What is the Gospel asking you to do today?". All are welcome. Click here for the Zoom link.
St. Luke's offers a weekly newsletter with worship resources and much more. CLICK HERE to subscribe, or here to look at previous editions.

Music for SeniorsAnd everyone else It has been tough for everyone during this pandemic, but especially for seniors and youth. Seniors have been dealing with isolation and loneliness while youth have been struggling with online school and finding ways to earn enough volunteer hours to graduate high school. In response to this need, Aleesha Katary (a chorister with the Cathedral Girls' Choir), with her friend, Ally Guo, created a very special project called Music for Seniors. Ride for Refuge is gearing up for 2021!Join the Cathedral team this summer We are excited to tell you that Christ Church Cathedral will again be participating in the Ride for Refuge in support of PWRDF. The Cathedral team is "getting ready", oiling the chains on their bikes, stretching out unused muscles, tuning up their instruments and sharpening knitting needles. Yes, once again the options of how you can participate are as varied as your talents. This year's team has set an initial goal to raise $2,500 and with your support will achieve success again this year. Funds in 2021 will benefit the “Light for Every Birth” project, which provides solar suitcases to health clinics in Mozambique, allowing for safer births at night, in areas without power. A matching grant doubles the efforts. Click here to learn more about this project. Interested in joining this year's team or sponsoring their efforts?
