The Bishop's Consecration

The Bishop's Consecration

From left to right, Archbishop Anne Germond, Archdeacon Pat Johnston, Bishop Shane Parker, Canon Doug Richards, Bishop Michael Oulton, Deacon Elizabeth December-Lovell. Missing in the above photo of clergy who participated is Bishop John Baycroft.

Acting Rector Pat Johnston writes: "What a joyful privilege it was to share in the worship last Sunday evening as our new Bishop was ordained, consecrated and seated in our cathedral.  When we were not directly taking part we were watching from afar.  It felt wonderful to be there and yet rather odd at the same time.  I know that some of you have told me that the worship felt beautifully intimate and that it was as though you were there as the liturgy unfolded.  It is hard to imagine that there will ever be another consecration quite like this one! Our cathedral rose to the occasion and dealt with all the challenges a pandemic brings.  Thank you to all who were directly and indirectly involved on this historic evening.

A Parting Gift for Dean Parker

A Parting Gift for Dean Parker

You may have been wondering about a gift for Dean Parker to honour his twenty year ministry at the Cathedral. He has asked that anyone wishing to make such a gift direct it to the Cathedral Benevolent fund which is used to help those in various kinds of need. You may send a cheque, payable to Christ Church Cathedral, and marked: Dean's Gift, Benevolent Fund.

Another special gift, one which contributes to the new Bishop's vestments, is a Celtic design panel requested for his red fine wool chasuble.  The panel has been ordered and is currently being made by Crofts in the UK.  Many thanks to the Altar Guild for organizing and supporting this gift.

Your support is as important as ever

Your support is as important as ever

As we continue to support each other during this pandemic, your financial support is as important as ever. There are many ways to continue your offerings. There is a link to Canada Helps at the end of your Sunday service that makes it as easy as leaving your envelope on the plate.

Cheques can be sent by regular Canada Post or call the cathedral office and we would be pleased to help you with how to use credit cards or e-transfer. If you have not already signed up for pre-authorized giving, we can help you with that as well. The work of the Cathedral and the needs of our ministries continue and we look forward to hearing from you.
