Wide Open!

Wide Open!

Both sets of steps now ready to welcome you

This Sunday marks the opening of both doors again on Sparks Street! There are some details to finish which hopefully will be done by Pentecost Sunday (June 8th) when Bishop Shane will bless the new steps at the end of the 10.30 am service. Enjoy these welcoming "arms" to our Cathedral!

North American Cathedral Deans Conference

North American Cathedral Deans Conference

May 8th to 11th

Dean Beth is in Omaha, Nebraska at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral for this annual conference. This year the focus is on the urgent need to look for new ways forward as the Church continues to find its feet in a rapidly evolving time. The challenges, experiments, failures, and successes of dioceses, churches, and Christian communities in the Midwest offer an example of exploring these new ways forward while maintaining our rich Anglican heritage. The Most Reverend Sean Rowe, Presiding Bishop of ECUSA, and Brother James Dowd, OSB, Prior of Incarnation Monastery and The Benedictine Way, are the theme speakers. Please keep all who travel and attend in your prayers!

Saint Paul University doctoral candidate conducting research

Josh Zentner-Barrett, a doctoral candidate at Saint Paul University, is undertaking research in Anglican churches in Ottawa. He is studying Anglican liturgy and identity, and its relationship to the colonial church, following on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. The Cathedral Corporation has received his research proposal and approved our participation. Josh is among us for two months, observing our worship and taking part in church events, as well as conducting interviews. He is looking for volunteers to be interviewed for approximately 60 minutes. All data collected during the process will be kept confidential and will remain anonymous. This study has been reviewed and received ethics clearance through the Saint Paul University Research Ethics Board. To volunteer to be interviewed, please contact Josh (jzent029@uottawa.ca or 613.816.1695).

Listening to Our Inner Wisdom

Listening to Our Inner Wisdom

Through the labyrinth and earth’s gift of clay

“We have much to learn from within, but it is easy to get lost... So we need solitude and community simultaneously; what we learn in one mode can check and balance what we learn in the other. Together they make us whole...” Parker J. Palmer, A Hidden Wholeness

Join in a two-part retreat inspired by Parker J. Palmer. You may attend one or both events. Friday evening (Part 1) is at Earthen Vessels, a pottery studio hosted by Ginger McCoy. Saturday afternoon (Part 2) takes place at the Labyrinth at Christ Church Cathedral.
