The Way of the CrossA Virtual Labyrinth Event On Monday, March 22nd beginning at 7pm Cathedral Labyrinth Guild members Mary-Catharine Carroll and Gwynneth Evans invite you to accompany Simon and Veronica on the Way of the Cross and then enter into the mystery of the labyrinth for a meditation.
The Stations of the Cross, or Way of the Cross, offer images which tell the story of Christ’s Passion. They are a popular devotion, found in many Western Christian churches. The Stations invite the faithful to make a spiritual pilgrimage through meditating on the Passion. During our gathering, we will contemplate the two models of service (practical and loving) embodied by Simon (Station 5) and Veronica (Station 6).
PRE-REGISTER by calling 613.236.9149 or email to info@ottawacathedral.ca. Additional information and Zoom connection details will be forwarded to program participants.
Please consider making a donation to St. Luke's Table, the Anglican Street Ministry in Ottawa at http://stlukestable.ca/index.php/how-to-help |

Pilgrimage to CoventryJoin the Dean in this online experience As a partner in the Community of the Cross of Nails, cathedral members are encouraged to visit Coventry and share in its very special and powerful message of reconciliation. Twice a year, in spring and autumn, a pilgrimage is hosted specifically for this purpose. It is an occasion for partners, current and aspiring, to come together at Coventry Cathedral for prayer and contemplation, to meet others in the network, to share their stories and experiences, and to learn from and be involved in the work of the Cathedral’s global reconciliation ministry. This year, due to Covid-19, they held their first, and very successful, online pilgrimage! You can read about it here. And now there will be an online spring pilgrimage on April 28th-30th, from 2pm to 6pm UK time. Our dean has been to Coventry and will be attending and she would love to have company! Please contact the cathedral office by email at info@ottawacathedral.ca or by phone at 613.236.9149 if you are interested in attending. We look forward to gathering a cathedral group to share this once in a lifetime experience! For more infomation visit:

Plans for Re-OpeningA message from our diocesan leadership team "Recent days have brought rapid changes in the status of many regions as COVID-19 variants emerge; medical experts continue to stress the need for extreme caution. We’re convinced keeping up the measures for staying safe while waiting to see how the variants behave — and how vaccine delivery plans shape up — is the most responsible way to proceed. Therefore, the plan for reopening our churches to in-person worship must remain tentative because it’s conditional on how government restrictions and public health advice evolve. The pandemic numbers in Ottawa have resulted in a delay to March 24th for a decision from our diocese as to whether we will move into Amber stage on Palm Sunday, March 28. Bishop Shane wants to avoid the stressful and demoralizing situation where we reopen prematurely, only to have to go back into lockdown again soon after. As he put it: “It is wise to remain in Red stage during the entire season of Lent, in the hopeful expectation that we can safely reopen on Palm Sunday, and then take the Holy Week journey to Easter with a sense that this is the beginning of the way out of this pandemic.” Although our churches must remain closed to in-person worship until at least March 27, there is some good news on the financial front. On the recommendation of our Property and Finance Committee, Diocesan Council has approved financial relief for all parishes for the month of March." Over the next few weeks, our cathedral clergy and staff will be planning two different streams of worship for Holy Week, one for in-person worship and one for live-stream worship, so that we are best prepared for either circumstance. Please continue to pray and give thanks for our diocesan leadership, and especially Bishop Shane, during these pandemic days. |

Restoration and Phase II Construction Update
Construction of the Phase II development of Cathedral Hill has been part of a long term plan for the cathedral for some time. After a number of changes in the plan the start of this new project has officially begun. The cathedral will take advantage of the excavation of this space to undertake restoration of the east wall of the cathedral. The team at MH Stoneworks arrived on site this week and will undertake restoration of the upper wall before the excavation of the location for work on the wall below grade. As this restoration work comes to completion, work will begin on the major construction project that will see a retirement residence developed on the land by the Reichman group. We will continue to offer updates here as plans and work progress. Please feel free to email (info@ottawacathedral.ca) or phone (613.236.9149) the cathedral office if you have specific questions. We always look forward to hearing from you. Thanks to the generous support of members and friends of the cathedral in 2020, we will not be embarking on another fundraiser for this work. We are most grateful for the continued gifts which have sustained the work of the cathedral in the past year and look forward to the year to come. |

Offerings from St. Luke's
On Wednesdays, St. Luke's offers a Service of the Word with Lectio divina on Zoom. Three different translations (NRSV, Good News and The Message) of the Gospel for the coming Sunday are read, and we are guided by the questions "What word or phrase stood out for you?" "What spoke to you in the passage?" "What meaning had you not perceived before?" and "What is the Gospel asking you to do today?". All are welcome. Click here for the Zoom link.
St. Luke's offers a weekly newsletter with worship resources and much more. CLICK HERE to subscribe, or here to look at previous editions.
