Cathedral Newsletter for June 13th, 2021Change in worship for two Sundays This Sunday we celebrate the Third Sunday after Pentecost with Canon Doug Richards preaching. Over these past many months, our livestreaming has been increasingly plagued with issues. This is very frustrating for those involved in the liturgy and also for all of you worshipping with us. For this Sunday and next, we will be offering something different, as we take a pause and hopefully resolve the glitches! One service will be available each week. This week's is a pre-recorded Eucharist, with both video and still photography. Please do follow along with the order of service. And next Sunday we will be joining in the Diocesan Indigenous Sunday's liturgy (see next item). Looking forward to coming back live to your home in a few weeks! Until we reopen for in-person worship, we will be continuing to partner with St. Luke's Ottawa, and other parishes will be joining our worship from time to time as their clergy go on vacation. Please watch this space! CLICK HERE to open your Order of Service for the 10:30 Sung Eucharist (BAS). For more infomation visit:

Ride for Refuge is gearing up for 2021!Join the Cathedral team this summer We are excited to tell you that Christ Church Cathedral will again be participating in the Ride for Refuge in support of PWRDF. The Cathedral team is "getting ready", oiling the chains on their bikes, stretching out unused muscles, tuning up their instruments and sharpening knitting needles. Yes, once again the options of how you can participate are as varied as your talents. Last year our team exceeded their goal raising over $2,500 and your support will ensure success again this year. This year funds will be raised for the “Light for Every Birth” project, in which solar suitcases will be provided for health clinics in Mozambique, allowing for safer births at night, in areas without power. A matching grant doubles the efforts. Interested in joining this year's team or sponsoring their efforts? Watch this newsletter for more details. We invite you to direct questions or comments to info@ottawacathedral.ca For more infomation visit:

Excavation continuesOnward and deeper through bedrock to ... the future Blasting continued to rock our world this week as the now familiar warning whistles alert us to the coming "boom", sometimes almost soft but more often felt throughout the neighbourhood. The beautiful weather has continued to facilitate good progress. Blasting will continue for most of the summer as we all look forward to the opening of the site and the corresponding reopening of our lives. It continues to be facinating watching the changes to the site sometimes hourly throughout the day. As requested by many of our members, we will do our best to keep you advised as changes take place. Please contact the cathedral office at any time if you have questions or would like additional information about this second phase of the Cathedral Hill plan. |

Offerings from St. Luke's
On Wednesdays, St. Luke's offers a Service of the Word with Lectio divina on Zoom. Three different translations (NRSV, Good News and The Message) of the Gospel for the coming Sunday are read, and we are guided by the questions "What word or phrase stood out for you?" "What spoke to you in the passage?" "What meaning had you not perceived before?" and "What is the Gospel asking you to do today?". All are welcome. Click here for the Zoom link.
St. Luke's offers a weekly newsletter with worship resources and much more. CLICK HERE to subscribe, or here to look at previous editions.
