This Sunday we celebrate the twenty fourth Sunday after Pentecost at the 10:30 morning service. Our preacher this week is Canon Hilary Murray. The service will be podcast from on our YouTube site (click the link below). We hope you will share this service with others in appropriate ways, abiding physical distancing. 

Each week we offer one Eucharist service on Sundays at 10.30 am. Pre-registration is required for in-person attendance so that we can maintain safe distancing for all. Please email or call the cathedral office in order to register.

A Stewardship message

Stewardship month continues to mid November with Christ the King, November 22nd set as Pledge Sunday. We take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to everyone for your continued support through the last few months. We realize that everyone has had very different and challenging things to face and we look forward to coming through this situation to rise and celebrate together in 2021.

Installation of the Dean of Ottawa

With Collations and Installations of New Archdeacons and Canons - Sunday, November 22, 2020 at 4pm

Bishop Shane is pleased to announce that these appointments will be formalized at a service of Evening Prayer:

- The Very Reverend Beth Bretzlaff will be installed as Dean of Ottawa and Rector of Christ Church Cathedral
- The Venerable Linda Hill will be collated as Executive Archdeacon
- The Venerable Peter Crosby will be collated as Archdeacon of Stormont
- The Venerable Mark Whittall will be collated as Archdeacon of Ottawa Centre
- The Reverend Canon Catherine Ascah will be installed as Canon of St Hilda of Whitby
- The Reverend Canon Peter John Hobbs will be installed as Canon of St Luke.

The Venerable Pat Johnston will be the preacher. Clergy are invited to sit in the nave.

As Amber protocols will be in effect, it is necessary to pre-register for this service. Please call the cathedral office at 613.236.9149 or send your email request to info@ottawacathedral.ca to pre-register. For those who are unable to attend and wish to share in this happy occasion, the service will be livestreamed on the cathedral YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/christchurchcathedralottawa). 

Labyrinth Guild hosts online Book Club

Labyrinth Guild hosts online Book Club

On Nov.22 at 7 pm join Cathedral Labyrinth Guild members for an evening of sharing books that have inspired you on the themes of Labyrinth, pilgrimage and prayer walking. Rhondda MacKay will lead off with a contemplative moment and sharing of some books recently donated to the Guild.

As this is a virtual online online event, you will need a microphone and webcam to see everyone. For security pre-registration is required by email to info@ottawacathedral.ca

Evensong service offered Thursday evenings in November

Plus Drinks with the Dean, Virtually!

Throughout November, choral evensong will be offered (following all guidelines) in the cathedral Thursday evenings beginning at 5:30 pm. Pre-registration is required and can be requested by contacting the office by email at info@ottawacathedral.ca or by phone at 613.236.9149.

Following the evensong each Thursday in November, you are invited to join "drinks with the Dean" at 7 pm, a virtual event. If you are interested in participating, please send an email request to info@ottawacathedral.ca for Zoom connection details.

Wednesday Noon Eucharist

Wednesday Noon Eucharist

We now offer one weekday eucharist each week, Wednesdays at noon in the nave. In order to provide a range of worship experiences, each week we will use a different liturgy: 1st week of the month - BAS eucharist with the Litany of Reconciliation; 2nd week of the month - Creation focused eucharist using the New Zealand Prayer Book; 3rd week of the month - Healing focused eucharist using resources from Iona; 4th week of the month - traditional BCP communion service.
