Born and baptized in London, England, Victoria is a cradle-Anglican. She grew up in Kingston,
Ontario, attending St. George’s Cathedral, and she finds deep meaning and energy in worship,
looking to liturgy and the sacraments to nourish, uphold and inspire as she strives to follow the
way of Jesus and live the Gospel in the world. She is delighted to make her home at Christ
Church Cathedral as an Honorary Assistant.
Victoria graduated from St. Paul University in May 2016, obtaining a Masters of Divinity degree,
and she was ordained that same year. She also holds Bachelor and Masters degrees in Music
(Organ Performance) and spent 23 years in music ministry before sliding off the organ bench
and over to the altar and the pulpit!
Victoria is known for her gentleness and compassion, and for her collaborative and flexible
leadership style. Before her appointment as Director General of Community Ministries, Victoria
served in the parishes of St. Thomas the Apostle, Alta Vista, St. Luke’s, and at Church of the
Ascension, Ottawa. She sees this appointment not as a move away from parish ministry, but as
a deeper turning toward the Gospel, believing that this work of standing alongside people
experiencing poverty, housing insecurity, hunger, mental illness, addiction, displacement, and
systemic injustice is the heart of the Gospel made visible in the world. Victoria’s theology is
rooted in relationship and connection, and she is deeply committed to discerning how and
where God is already at work, and to participating in that work with others.
Victoria often speaks of having two vocations: wife and mother, and priest. She and her
husband Randy live in Old Ottawa South. They are on the verge of being “empty-nesters”, with
their daughter in second-year university, and their son heading there in the fall. In her free
time, Victoria enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time in the outdoors with her family at
their “off-the-grid” cabin near Sharbot Lake.
