Bishop-Elect Kathryn served as incumbent at All Saints Westboro in Ottawa. Before that, she was incumbent at Christ Church in Bells Corners for 10 years, served as incumbent for the Parish of Fitzroy Harbour for five years, and as associate curate at Saint John the Evangelist on Elgin Street.
Born in Montreal, Kathryn grew up there, spending every summer in the Maritimes where many of her family live. She briefly lived west of Toronto and then moved to Ottawa to attend Carleton University. She completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Classics at Carleton University. She worked as a sessional lecturer at Carleton before beginning doctoral studies at Ottawa University. During this time, she raised her family, served in parish ministries and volunteered with community organizations including La Leche
League and Scouts Canada. She worked from home as the managing editor of the International Journal of Computers and Geosciences.
Returning to university, Kathryn completed her Bachelor of Theology and Master of Pastoral Theology at Saint Paul University. She was a sessional lecturer at the university and a mentor for international students. Kathryn is committed to continuing education programs, both as teacher and student. Serving in our diocese, Kathryn has worked on governance committees, clergy wellness and development ministries, been a member of All My Relations and served as chaplain to the Well, board member of the Ottawa Pastoral Counselling Center and served on the Community Ministries Committee. She is a member of the Bishops’ Advisory Panel on Housing Issues. She has served as Territorial Archdeacon for 8 years.
At the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario, Kathryn served as diocesan representative for 15 years – chairing the Homelessness and Affordable Housing working group in that time. She now serves at the National Church level, chairing the Public Witness for Social and Ecological Justice Coordinating Committee.
Kathryn has three adult children and one grandchild. She enjoys many outdoor activities with her pets, including camping, kayaking, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. She loves to create art through many kinds of needlework and multi-media art projects. She is an avid reader, a fierce puzzle solver and board game enthusiast.
